Meet the Warson Woods Police Officers
All police officers and commissioned reserve officers in Missouri must successfully complete a minimum of forty-eight hours of continuing education training every 3 years to maintain their peace officer license. It is the responsibility of the licensed officer to ensure their continuing education requirements are met. The Warson Woods Police Department only employs officers that are properly licensed and fully certified by the State of Missouri.
Each officer shall complete a minimum of four hours in all four-core curricula areas. The core curricula areas are identified as:
Legal Studies-Training focuses on updates or familiarization concerning federal, state and local criminal law or legal issues;
Interpersonal Perspectives-Training focuses on communication skills such as cultural diversity training, ethics, conflict management, victim sensitivity and stress management;
Technical Studies-Training focuses on specialized studies or activities which directly relate to the job description, including first aid and CPR training; and
Skill Development- Training focuses on activities that develop physical skill proficiency such as defensive tactics, firearms, driver training, (note: A minimum of four hours of Firearms Skill Development training must be completed every three year reporting period).
The Warson Woods Police Department’s six officers completed a total of 609.5 P.O.S.T. training hours initally and maintain their cerfitication with continuing education via the St. Louis County Police Academy and other authorized training facilities.
Our department also has two certified firearms instructors and two certified Glock Firearms armorers that have attended specialized courses instructing them on how to properly and safely service and repair department duty weapons.
